In 1963, Joe Bradley went forward on a Sunday Morning, dedicated his life to Christ and was baptized. Early the next morning he called Bob James the minister at the Dark Corner Christian Church and wanted to go for a ride. He had a cow pasture about 5 miles south of Star City, and when he thought it would make a wonderful place to have a Church camp for kids. He donated the land, and work began shortly all done by men of the churches in the area. In 1968 the first camp was held, and every child that attended save one gave his/her life to Christ and was baptized. Joe Bradley was estatic with the first Church camp, sadly two months after that first camp, Joe was killed in an accident and called home.
A Chapel was built about 1977 or so. All buildings are now air conditioned, we have a new chapel, a basketball court, city water, we remodeled the girl's showers and bathrooms and we are in process of raising money for a pool. We swim in Monticello currently. We have plans to add RV pads for family camp, etc.. and we would like to replace the dining hall/kitchen.
